Tucked along a bustling stretch of Grand River Avenue in Detroit’s west side, this spot draws a steady mix of locals and visitors hunting for straightforward, comforting American fare. The menu centers around hearty sandwiches—from Philly steak subs loaded with grilled onions and Swiss cheese to crispy fried cod sandwiches and triple-decker chicken clubs. Breakfast is equally approachable, featuring classic egg and cheese combos alongside more filling sausage and egg sandwiches.
The atmosphere is a study in contrasts. Bright and colorful on the outside with flags fluttering from the roof, the inside feels more like a no-nonsense cafeteria, complete with bulletproof glass and a unique turntable system for food delivery. It might not be the place you linger over, but the efficient service, including drive-through and takeaway options, keeps a steady flow of folks coming through.
This is a place where the casual diner feels at home—whether you're stopping in solo for a quick bite and a strong cup of coffee or bringing a group to sample small plates and comfort food throughout the day. Families appreciate the kid-friendly options and accessible parking, while those seeking a late-night comfort meal will find a straightforward, dependable option here. The atmosphere and menu lean into casual, solid meals without the frills, attracting those who value convenience and hearty flavors over ambiance.

"I love their food the French toast n the chicken n chilli fries n etc.."
"Hash browns cooked hard, Food is nasty, prices are to high."
5 This bacon, egg and cheese, with hash brown sandwich was perfect! I couldn’t have made it better myself!
5 Got the Steak & Eggs breakfast with Hash Browns it was excellent , also had the Deep Fried Mushrooms Awesome !!!
4 This place is not inviting once you get inside. Outside is very colorful, dark green with yellow & red accents, lots of flags on the roof. Inside it's all prison cafeteria. Bulletproof "glass", a slide you put your money through like you're at a bank, a turntable your food comes out on (also bulletproof). Even though I was the only one there - at just past noon - I wasn't eating in. Getting my two coneys to go (it didn't actually matter, it turns out) I was happy to eat in the car, something I rarely even consider. The menu is very expansive, pitas, breakfast, etc., on offer. And they have a drive thru. Per the sign, they are open 24 hrs. The dogs were fine, the buns seemed a bit old & were a little dry and flavorless. Can't envision returning here.
4 Double bacon cheeseburger, that's all I'm going to say! you feel like the 90s again, Their burgers are legit and not giving you a hockey puttsandwich, I go across town just to get a double bacon cheeseburger, The black bald head Chef throws down, Just add a Lil more salt and pepper and we good! See you next time
4 Standard Coney Island decently cup how to sign up the front window being broken into their service is very nice and your order comes out pretty quick to completion Can I have the grilled chicken salad and white coconut cake just because I wanted it and it looked so good
5 The cashier is super friendly and accurate. Made sure my order was prepared right. Great Customer service. The pita sandwich ordered was EVERYTHING. They have great options to add on. A little more expensive then expected but worth it. Will be coming back to try different options. Very generous portions so the price was undoubtedly worth it. Would suggest adding a menu online would have liked to make a selection before coming in or a call in. Nonetheless excellent place to try if your looking for the Detroit Specialty Coney island
5 They are usually very polite when I go. The food is still hot by the time I get home. The selection is good. It is a little pricy for a Coney Island so if you're on a budget, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. To me , I'd rather pay a little more knowing my food is going to be cooked correctly. Also, I damaged my car on the pole they have (totally my fault) but I wish it wasn't there to begin with. I also wish they had a better and more clear menu online rather than user uploaded photos. Other than that, I have no complaints.
